From the beginnings as Victoria’s first regional university 45 years ago, to their current ranking among the top two per cent of universities worldwide, Deakin University has had a consistent goal – to work in partnership with local and international industries, governments, communities and educational organisations to make a difference in the world.
Deakin University has a longstanding record for using cutting-edge technology while providing a personalised learning experience. Deakin aims to be at the forefront of digital change, enabling globally connected and innovative education and research.
As a dynamic, young university, Deakin was the first Australian university to set up an office in India, and now has partnerships with dozens of India’s premier universities, research organisations and businesses. Through its Deakin India Research Initiative (DIRI), Deakin has committed over $10 million to research in India. In 2008, Deakin became the first Australian university to open an independent office in Beijing. Since then, Deakin has expanded its operations into the industrial heartland of China, with office locations opening in Wuhan and Chengdu. In Indonesia, Deakin has forged links with over 40 universities to support joint research programs and to foster the upskilling of Indonesian academics through Deakin PhD programs.
